Avon Maitland Students Told To Expect Business As Usual

The director of education for the Avon Maitland District School Board believes students can expect a full range of extra-curricular activities when they return to school September 8.

Ted Doherty explains the secondary teachers have a tentative agreement that is expected to be ratified by the end of September, but all sanctions have been lifted pending that ratification.

Doherty says he's optimistic the agreement will be ratified. He goes on to say the elementary teachers are still in negotiations and have talks scheduled for next week.

Doherty expects those talks will result in a tentative agreement as well

He says the beginning of the school year for elementary school students will also be business as usual with no disruptions.
