Owen Sound Fire Appoints Fire Chief

Owen Sound's new fire chief officially takes on the job on September 1.

Owen Sound's mayor, Ian Boddy, appointed Doug Barfoot as Chief Wednesday.

Barfoot worked for Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services for 31 years before he retired in January.

“I am excited and honored to be stepping into the role of chief,” says Barfoot. “I look forward to working closely with all of the members, council and the senior management team; and to further strengthen department operations, while continuing to keep Owen Sound safe for our residents.”

Outgoing Acting Chief Tom Potter was thanked for his many years of outstanding service to the city.
