Province Agrees To Build Alvanley Roundabout

The province has finally agreed to pay for a roundabout at the Alvanley intersection.

The intersection west of Owen Sound on Hwy. 21 has long been a hazard with numerous collisions. It's at the Bruce-Grey County line and both counties have been lobbying the province for years to get the work done because Hwy. 21 is a provincial road.

Georgian Bluffs mayor Al Barfoot says they received a letter recently saying the work will proceed.

"So this is big news from the minister saying that they have agreed that they will fund the entire project, it's just up to a selection committee at MTO to decide which year projects are done," says Barfoot at Grey County Council's monthly meeting.

Barfoot hopes the work on the Alvanley intersection will start as soon as possible.

Grey County called on the province to install a roundabout back in June.
