Goderich Mayor Wants to Promote Disney Connection

Goderich Mayor Kevin Morrison would like to see the town explore the possibilities of increased tourism through its relationship with the Walt Disney family.

Council voted to receive and file a recent letter concerning the Disney organization, but Morrison reflects back on the Disney parade in Goderich that attracted over 50,000 people and believes there is more potential there.

"It was back in the '90's that the Mickey Mouse story came here, the Disney parade. It was a huge thing. And there is a proven history, there is that Disney connection," says Morrison. "So I just want to research that a little bit further because I see that as something of great interest and it could be another economic driver when it comes to tourism in the community."

The Disney-sanctioned Mickey Mouse parade was in 1999.
