Pedestrian Hit By Car In Owen Sound

An Owen Sound man suffered head and neck injuries when he was hit by a car while crossing a street last night.

The 61-year-old man was crossing on a green light at 14th St. and 4th Ave. W around 8pm last night.

A vehicle driven by a 52-year-old Owen Sound woman was making a right turn onto 4th Ave. W, when her vehicle struck the man.

He was rushed to hospital where he was found to have sustained a fracture to his upper neck. He was air lifted to London hospital for more specialized care.

The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
