Saugeen Shores Fire Department and the Coast Guard are searching Lake Huron after a flare was reportedly spotted out on the horizon early this morning.
The search is concentrating on the Southampton area.
There have been no distress calls or reports of missing persons.
The search is being described as due diligence.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
