Electoral System Discussion Planned in Hanover

Peace and Justice Grey Bruce is pushing for a change in the electoral system, and will discuss the situation in Hanover at a meeting next week involving local federal election candidates.

Candidates Liberal Kimberley Love, The Green's Chris Albinati, and David McLaren of the NDP will be there along with Fair Vote Canada Spokesman Joyce Hall.

The group says that most people understand that the "first past the post" system we have now doesn't represent the values of the majority of citizens, and that most democracies use the principal of proportional representation . It ensures the number of seats in the House are occupied by parties in direct proportion to the votes each party received in the election.

The meeting on Wednesday September 23rd starts at 7pm at the Lion's Den in Hanover's P&H Centre on 7th Avenue. MP Larry Miller has also been invited.
