Impaired Charge For Driver Found Asleep In Owen Sound

An Orangeville driver is walking for the next week after being charged with impaired driving in Owen Sound.

About 4:30am Saturday morning, a taxi driver alerted Owen Sound police to a vehicle whose driver was slumped over the steering wheel in the 200-block of 9th St. E.

Police found a 45-year-old Orangeville resident asleep in the driver’s seat.

The car was not running, but the keys were in the ignition and the power was on.

A Police investigation has led to the driver’s arrest and breath samples indicated the driver had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream.

The driver was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and having an excess blood/alcohol level.

His vehicle is impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.
