AMDSB French Immersion Report For Huron County

Trustees with the Avon Maitland District School Board received a detailed look at the history of French Language instruction in the board and the potential to expand the program at this week's board meeting.

A group of parents had asked for French Immersion in Huron County.

Currently the Avon Maitland Board only offers French Immersion in Stratford because Stratford has the population density to make it viable.

Director of Education Ted Doherty says in putting the report together staff learned there is no new money for transportation for a French Immersion program.

Doherty went on to say the only thing that would trigger an increase in transportation funding from he province would be an increase in enrollment, and that isn't happening in the Avon Maitland Board.
