Patient Barricades Himself In Goderich Hospital Room

Police have apprehended a male patient after a six-hour stand off at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital in Goderich.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Wednesday around 12pm, officers responded to the hospital after a patient barricaded himself in a room at the hospital. Upon arrival officers set up containment around the area and began communicating with the patient.

At around 6pm, officers were able to apprehend the male without incident.

Police say the incident did not pose any risk to public safety and regular public access has now resumed at the hospital.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
