Perth County Council Recognizes EMS Chief

Perth County's chief of Emergency Medical Services is being recognized by the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs for her leadership and integrity.

Linda Rockwood has held the position for 15 years and was nominated by the staff from her office.

“It's really nice to get this kind of an award and recognition, I'm quite shocked and surprised but still very honoured. But I have a lot of people who have been supporting and I have great support from council,” she says.

Looking to the future, Rockwood is excited for the completion of a new EMS base currently under construction in Stratford.

“One of the things that we've been working towards is education and training for paramedics and so this facility will provide us with that. So we'll have a large meeting room and training room we'll be able to use both jointly for meetings and training but as well as an EMC building.”

Work has already begun on the foundations of the new facility, and significant progress is expected by early spring.
