United Way Gets Expert Help With Fire Victims' Fund

The United way of Bruce Grey has announced that $107,652 has been handed to victims of an arson spree in Owen Sound August 10.

The organization says two insurance professionals have also volunteered their time and expertise to help with the claims.

Rob Allan, 30-year retired insurance veteran, and Brian Glass, a former Ontario Insurance Adjuster Association executive member, will help the United Way review claimant loss lists.

They'll be on a committee along with the United Way's volunteer chair, and executive director.

They'll work to approve the release of funds in a timely and responsible way.

Community donations so far have totalled $295,000. in what the United Way calls an unprecedented response to the tragic fires.

"We are delighted that Brian and Rob have answered the community call to provide independent, professional expertise to help the fire victims," says Dobbyn. "Their experience in the insurance industry is vital to the process."
