WOAA Season Starts This Week

The WOAA Senior Hockey League begins its 2015-2016 season Friday.

The Tillsonburg Thunder roll into the season as the defending champions and will be in Tavistock Saturday night.

The WOAA Senior Hockey League is again made up of 14 teams with eight in the north and six in the south.

Last year's leading scorer, Bryan Kazarian, is back with the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks and led the league with 54 points.

Last year's goale leader was Jason Hamilton with Mapleton-Minto. He was 11-4 with a 2.11 goals against average.

The season officially gets underway Friday night in Milverton at 8:30pm when the 4-Wheel Drives host Petrolia.

Saturday night will feature two games with Tillsonburg in Tavistock at 7pm and Mapleton-Minto in Shelburne at 8pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
