Sunday Hunting Being Considered In Wellington North

A Wellington North councillor would like to see Sunday hunting allowed in the municipality.

Council agreed to Steve McCabe’s suggestion that staff bring back a report on Sunday hunting, as well as hearing from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

McCabe said there are 167 municipalities in southern Ontario which have adopted Sunday hunting since it was first allowed in 2005.   And he says in that time there have been no complaints, nor has any municipality reversed back to a ban on Sunday hunting.

He says local hunters go to neighbouring municipalities such as Southgate and North Perth for a Sunday hunt and take their business with them.

Wellington North Council will hear from the Federation of Anglers and Hunters at its November 9th meeting.
