High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Replacement of the Bayfield Bridge at the south end of Clinton on Hwy. 4 is scheduled to start in 2017.
Bluewater CAO Gary Long says construction will be done in stages over one construction season, with traffic reduced to a single lane while the work is being done.
The province will cover most of the cost, but there will be a small contribution from both Bluewater and Central Huron for lighting at each end of the bridge.
Long says it makes sense to install the lights while work on the bridge is underway rather than leave it until after the work has been done.
