Heavy Rainfall Wednesday For Midwestern Ontario

A Rainfall Warning is in effect for Huron, Perth and Wellington counties while Grey-Bruce is under a Special Weather Statement.

Environment Canada says a massive storm system is moving up from the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to bring heavy rainfall to most of Mid-Western Ontario Wednesday.

Glenn Robinson, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says the rainfall is expected to taper off by the afternoon, but we could experience wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour tonight and into Thursday morning.

Power outages are possible if the strong wind brings down tree branches on power lines.

Drivers are cautioned to be careful on the roads as heavy rainfall mixed with large quantities of leaves could make for slippery road conditions.

Also, residents are asked to stay away from local creeks and rivers as heavy rainfall could also cause some fast moving water and localized flooding in some areas.
