OPP Report A Sharp Increase in Thefts Exeter

Huron County OPP are using Crime Prevention week as an opportunity to remind residents about the increasing number of thefts of vehicles, and theft from vehicles.

OPP say this week is a good time to start taking some personal responsibility to make communities safer.

Police say there has been a sharp spike in the number of thefts in the Town of Exeter. Since October 8th, there have been 22 thefts in the town, mostly valuables taken from unlocked vehicles overnight.

Stolen items include wallets, power tools, backpacks, electronics, cheques, and clothing. Several bicycles have also been stolen in Exeter .

The Lock it or Lose it program encourages drivers to avoid becoming a victim by keeping valuables out of site, and locking vehicles.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
