Avon Maitland School Board Meets Class Size Standards

The Avon Maitland District School Board is in compliance with provincial standards for class sizes this year.

Director of Education Ted Doherty says every board is required to report compliance with the standards every year and the standards are spelled out in three categories.

Kindergarten classes must average 26 or fewer students.

He says 90 per cent of Grade 1 to three classes must be at 20 or less and the board's Grade 4-8 classes are just under 26 students.

Doherty says the Avon Maitland board is in compliance in all three categories.
