Grey Bruce Realtors Want MPP to Vote Against New Land Transfer Tax Powers

The Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound wants residents to send a clear message to their MPP to oppose a plan to allow municipalities province wide to charge a land transfer tax.

President Dawn Lee McKenzie says that new tax would add between $3,000. and $6,000 in land transfer taxes to the price of an average home.

She says that could stand in the way of a family's dream of home ownership, and have serious impacts on the local economy.

She says each home transaction generates $55,000 in economic spin offs, supporting local business.

McKenzie says nine out of ten Ontario residents told a recent IPSOS Reid poll they opposed the tax.

She says local MPP's vote on the proposal December 3rd.
