Mildmay School Gets Funding For Renovation

The provincial government is investing $498-million to improve a number of schools across the province and Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Mildmay is on the list.

Sacred Heart Elementary will undergo major renovations, according to Director of Education for the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board Jamie McKinnon.

"We're actually adding two classrooms to the school and some utility space; the current site or the current school has two buildings on it and one building is in need of much repair and maintenance and that building will actually be decommissioned," says McKinnon.

McKinnon says (the school board) applied for funding last year after reviewing the needs of the board. He says the funding will certainly help bring additional teaching space to Sacred Heart.

"Across the province, the needs of boards are submitted and from that we were able to secure funding for the addition to Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in Mildmay," notes McKinnon.

Sacred Heart is just one of 26 major school renovation projects across the province.
