Huron Park Manufacturers Looking For Workers

The mayor of South Huron says many of the manufacturers in Huron Park are ready and willing to expand their business but they don't have workers to fill the jobs that expansion would create.

Maureen Cole says she was first made aware of the issue at a meeting about a month ago with several of the manufacturers, and it came up again at a recent strategic planning meeting.

They told her they needed apprentices as well as a wide range of general labourers.

The municipality is considering things like hosting a job fair in London to attract people to the Huron Park area to fill the jobs.

Cole also points out affordable housing is available right across the road from the industrial park.
