Grey Bruce Alzheimer Society Offers Help

The Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce wants to ensure people know help is available, following a tragic murder suicide attempt in London.

Executive Director Deborah Baker says they are deeply saddened to hear a woman is charged with giving her husband an overdose, and taking an overdose of medication herself. Her husband has dementia. Both survived.

Baker says they have trained professional counsellors experienced in working with individuals with dementia, and their families.

She says they can help connect with other community services including day away programs and respite services.

A recent study found over 70 per cent of those who wait a year or more after a diagnosis to contact the Alzheimer Society say they wished they had called sooner.
