Grey County Approves Budget

Grey County Council has approved a $144.4 million budget for 2016.

The budget focuses on providing services to people and investing in the maintenance and upgrading of roads and related infrastructure.

Residents in Grey County will see an overall 1.94% increase on the County portion of their municipal property taxes in 2016, which works out to $17.34 for the average residential property valued at $255,300.

Next year, $0.48 of every tax dollar will go directly into supporting programs that support people. That includes social service programs, long-term care homes and affordable housing. And Grey County will also be purchasing two new ambulances and replacing aging cardiac monitors and defibrillators.

The budget also sets aside $12.7 million for road, bridges and facility repair.
