Upper Grand School Board Revises Extreme Cold Procedure

The Upper Grand District School Board is fine tuning the procedure regarding extreme cold and school closures.

The board passed a motion stating that when the Environment Canada Wind Chill index forecasts -35 C at 7am, schools may be closed.

The decision to close schools will be made jointly by the directors of education of the Upper Grand and Wellington Catholic District School Boards, and the board chairs.

The documents regarding the procedure will be posted online, and parents will be informed of the risks of frostbite during extreme cold temperatures.
