Owen Sound Police say citizens helped a police officer during a struggle as police attempted to apprehend a man at a downtown restaurant. An officer spotted a 19 year old man about 630 pm Friday who was wanted for the alleged assault of a woman who had just given birth to their baby the previous day. The woman received minor injuries which did not require medical attention. The suspect tried to hide in a washroom at a 9th Street eatery but was placed under arrest. He fought aggressively to escape, smashing a restaurant display in the process. Two citizens stepped up to assist with the man's capture. A search located marijuana a suspected crystal meth in the man's jacket. 19 year old Brandon Mitchell of Cambridge faces several charges including domestic assault, and assault with intent to resist arrest.
