Southgate Council Wants The Mayor's Municipal Office Keys

Southgate Mayor Anna Marie Fosbrooke says she will defy her council if it decides to take away her keys to the municipal office.

She says council does not have the authority for such action.

Deputy Mayor Norm Jack says Fosbrooke should not have access to the municipal office any time of day or night.

Fosbrooke says she goes in after hours to use the copy machine, but not to look into municipal records.

Several councillors expressed surprise at Fosbrooke’s attitude, including Jack who said if the mayor won’t follow council’s wishes, maybe it’s time for her to go.

Council will get a legal opinion on its power to take away her keys.
