Golf Landscape in Owen Sound is Changing

One Owen Sound area golf course is closing and another will be under new ownership.

Guelph-based Balnar Management announced it's selling Legacy Ridge Golf Club, formally the Owen Sound Golf and Country Club, to a local consortium. It's also announced its closing Stone Tree Golf.

In a release, officials say Balnar wants to focus on its core business of residential and commercial properties in Guelph, Fergus and Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge.

The sale of Legacy Ridge closes January 18th, 2016. It is being bought by Michael Todd, Director of Operations for Balnar Golf; Marc Brooks, Course Superintendent for the company; and Bert Leeder, a local businessman.

Under the terms of the sale, Stone Tree Golf will not be sold to a golf business or operator. The Fitness Club at Stone Tree will stay open along with the site's banquet facilities. Food operations will close January 1st.

The new owners are encouraging Stone Tree members to consider Legacy Ridge as their course of choice next season.
