Perth Wellington's MPP Says Province's New Rural Road Map Points In Wrong Direction

Perth Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece claims the Ontario government's new rural road map misses the mark.

He says it fails to address or even identify key concerns in rural and small town Ontario.

The Liberal document, dubbed "the Path Forward for Ontario" was released yesterday.

Pettapiece says it fails to mention the skyrocketing cost of hydro, with another increase due next year.

He says it doesn't address frozen hospital budgets, and surgery wait times.

He adds, the government also glosses over significant funding cuts to the Connecting Links program and the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.

He says it fails to provide an action plan for the manufacturing sector despite the loss of key employers.
