Avon Maitland Elementary Teachers Ratify Local Agreement

Teachers with the Avon Maitland Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario have voted to ratify a local agreement with the Avon Maitland District School Board.

98% of members who attended the meeting voted in favour of the deal, and the Avon Maitland School Board also passed it last week.

The union says the local agreement states time must be given for members to complete mandatory training.

And the contract allows members can access up to two days of unpaid leave with approval.

The local represents 600 full and part time teachers employed with the Avon Maitland Board.

This local agreement will now be combined with the clauses ratified at the central table to form the complete Collective Agreement.
