Ice Storm Payouts From Province

Seven midwestern Ontario communities have received final payments from the province's Ice Storm Assistance Program.

The ice storm hit the region in December 2013.

In 2014, the province announced that it would reimburse 100 per cent of eligible disaster response and recovery costs through the program.

The following municipalities received money:

  • Huron East - $11,000
  • Mapleton - $23,009
  • Minto - $70,917
  • North Perth - $87,760
  • Stratford - $11,366
  • Wellington North - $6,237
  • West Perth - $18,410
  • Erin - $441,571
Some of the harder hit areas received more, including Erin which received $441,571, and Centre Wellington, which received $297,543.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
