The Value of New Building in Meaford May Hit $20 Million in 2015

It looks like Meaford will reach $20 million in building starts by the end of this year.

CBO Rick Carefoot’s department issued 22 permits last month and they represented just over $1 million in building value. That's an increase of almost 20 per cent over the $849,000 for the 10 building permits issued in November of last year.

So far this year, $19.8 million worth of permits have been issued, an increase of 83 per cent over the $10.8 million worth of building values for the same 11 months of last year.

Deputy mayor Harley Greenfield says he is encouraged by the strong showing of the building industry in Meaford.

“I know some people think we should lower our development charge," says Greenfield. "But that charge didn’t seem to have any noticeable effect on our building starts this year.”
