Meaford Site Will Receive Refugees in New Year

The Meaford military site is now second on the federal government's list of military housing facilities for incoming Syrian Refugees.

4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford will house 500 refugees, and the Grey Bruce Health Unit will be involved in immunization, dental care and communicable disease control.

Acting Medical Officer of Health for Bruce Grey, Dr. Christine Kennedy, the first site to house refugees will be in Kingston,

She explains, "now given that the kingston site has a capacity of 1500 we would anticipate that it will be at least weeks before Meaford is brought on line."

However, Kennedy says the federal government is still fine tuning plans, and things could change.
