Walkerton Hawks Add to Team to Stay Number 1

The Western Junior C leading Walkerton Hawks are looking to make some moves.

GM Steve Barrett says the team is looking to add a couple more players to the mix this year. He told CKNX they've already made a key goaltending addition.

"We picked up Nick Redman the other day out of the Stratford Cullitons," he says. " I don't think there's anybody that didn't talk about Walkerton's goal tending situation that [we] were in need of a bonafide guy and we were able to land Nick."

Barrett also talked about league leading goal scorer, Lauchlin Elder who has 53 points in 27 games:

"Lauchlin is obviously our offensive juggernaut. The offense usually starts and sometimes finishes with him all in the same play."

Despite being number on in the league, Barrett says Elder is still humble.

"He'll be the first one to admit it's not an issue for him if he's in first, fifth or tenth." Barrett says, "Lauchlin just loves to play the game and he comes to play the game. It is nice to see him being rewarded on the score sheet."

The Walkerton Hawks are back in action tomorrow night when they face the Wingham Ironmen at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex.
