Saugeen Shores Man Arrested For Port Elgin Robbery

Saugeen Shores police have a man in custody following a robbery last night at the Mac's Convenience Store in Port Elgin.

Officers were alerted around 8:00 last night that a man wearing a balaclava, and armed with a knife, had robbed the Mac's Store.   He fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police were given a description of the suspect, and an officer spotted the man a short time later on the rail trail behind Wellington Street in Port Elgin.   He was arrested after a short police chase, and money and a balaclava was recovered.

Police have asked residents in the areas north east of the Mac's Store, surrounded by Goderich, Elgin and Tomlinson Streets and the Rail Trail to keep an eye out for the knife or any other suspicious objects.

A 31-year-old man from Saugeen Shores is facing charges of robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, weapons dangerous, uttering death threats, resisting arrest, and possession of stolen property.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
