Jury Selection Complete For Schweitzer Murder Trial in Stratford

The trial for the man accused in the 2012 shooting death of a Milverton teen got under way in Stratford Superior Courtroom today (Monday).

26-year-old Michael Schweitzer sat quietly in the prisoner's box in Perth County Superior Court as Justice Thomas Heeney addressed a packed courtroom of potential jurors.

Schweitzer is charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Nicole Wagler at a Milverton home in December of 2012, he also faces a charge of attempted murder in the shooting of Tyler Baker, Schweitzer's former room mate.

Schweitzer has entered a plea of not guilty on both charges.

The jury now in place, opening arguments are expected to begin tomorrow; Justice Thomas Heeney telling the court evidence could also be heard as early as tomorrow.

The trial is expected to last somewhere in the range of three weeks.
