Vehicle Collides With Owen Sound Police Cruiser

An Owen Sound officer narrowly avoided injury early this morning when a vehicle backed into his cruiser.

Shortly after 1am, the officer attempted to stop a vehicle with a suspected impaired driver.

After turning on the cruiser's emergency roof lights, the officer went to get out of the vehicle, when he noticed the suspect vehicle backing up towards his cruiser.

The Ford Expedition crashed directly into the cruiser then tried to pull away. The officer was able to get the driver to stop before he left the scene.

The 38-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested at the scene for impaired operation, and blowing over. He also had his vehicle impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days.

No one was hurt in the incident.
