A preliminary look at the idea identifies community benefits and efficiencies, such as financial sustainability.

The committee believes the weaknesses and threats can likely be overcome.

The committee expects to be able to make a recommendation by December 2016, and suggests Hanover wait to apply for an OPP costing proposal until that time.

From 2008 to 2015, the Hanover police budget has increased from $2 million to $2.68 million (34%) and averaged 47.9% of the total annual municipal budget.
