North Huron Man Faces Additional Sexual Assault Charges

A former Wingham Scout leader, hospital worker and auxiliary police officer is facing additional charges in connection to historical sexual assaults against three youth.

Martin Cretier, 71, of North Huron is charged with indecent assault, gross indecency, sexual assault, and sexual interference.

The latest charges stem from incidents that took place between 1976 and 2001 involving three victims aged 9 to 17.

Police say the victims met the accused at the Wingham hospital, or with the 1st Wingham Scout Troop.

The investigation has identified ten victims and a total of 39 charges have been laid against the accused.

Cretier has a court date February 18 in Wingham.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
