Southgate Fire Destroys Freight Trailer

Fire destroyed a freight trailer in Grey County.

The OPP says they received a report of a blaze on Southgate Rd. 14 in Southgate.

A resident saw smoke coming from the back of his rural property, and upon investigation, found the doors to a trailer opened, and the trailer on fire.

The 40 foot stainless steel trailer was used for storage.

Two unknown men were seen on an ATV crossing a large field toward 55 Sideroad at the time.

North Wellington Fire says arson is suspected, and damage adds up to about $4,000.

The suspect vehicle was a red side by side ATV, possibly a Polaris, with a black roll bar.

Grey County OPP, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU), Mount Forest, continues to investigate. Anyone with information which may assist police is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
