Fire Destroys a Home Near Mount Forest

A fire destroyed a large bungalow south of Mount Forest.

Crews from Mount Forest and Arthur were called to a home on Concession Rd. 11 near Farwell just before 9am Thursday morning, and then called in backup from Harriston and Palmerston.

Chief David Guilbault says the house was unsafe to enter when they arrived. He says it was fully involved, with flames breaking through the exterior of the home.

He says damage is estimated at $325,000.

Guilbault says there was no one home at the time, and all firefighters were safe.

An electrical fire in the area of the dryer is the suspected cause.
