Healthcare Alliance Gets Future Glimpse Of Labs

The CEO of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance recently attended an Inter-Hospital Laboratory Partnership Strategic Planning Day.

Andrew Williams explains the Alliance is part of a 12-hospital lab partnership has been working well for several years now and is probably one of the longest standing lab partnerships in the province.

Williams says they have standardized protocols across all of the sites, some of the more common tests are done at the sites but a courier system brings samples for some of the less frequent and more expensive tests into the Stratford site.

They have a governance structure that oversees the partnership and at their planning day they looked at how the next five to ten years will look for lab services.

That includes the possibility of having tests done at the hospital bed side instead of sending samples to another site.
