Falls Reserve Near Goderich Needs Work

A couple of million dollars is needed to fix up the Falls Reserve Conservation Area near Goderich.

But the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority doesn't have that kind of money.

Falls Reserve also includes 30 overnight camping sites.

Deb Shewfelt is Goderich's representative on the MVCA board. He says the MVCA has committed most of its funding to work on flood and erosion control along the shoreline. And attempts to get someone to lease the area and run it were not successful.

One of the options is to just offer day camping. But Falls Reserve is still popular and people who camp there in the summer shop in Goderich and Clinton.

The MVCA will revisit options for the Falls Reserve Conservation Area in a year's time.
