Officers Cleared In Markdale Call

The Special Investigations Unit has cleared provincial police of any wrongdoing after a death in Markdale.

In the early morning hours of July 1, 2015, police responded to a call about a possible drug overdose on Main St. W in Markdale. The call came from paramedics who found a 43-year-old man in an agitated state.

The man was handcuffed and strapped to a backboard and taken to hosptial.

The SIU says the man's death tragically occurred because of a drug overdose, and nothing any officer did or failed to do contributed to his death.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
