New Perth OPP Commander Appointed

A new detachment commander is in place at the Perth County OPP headquarters.

Superintendent John Cain has announced that Inspector Rob Scott was selected as the successful candidate, and stepped into the job on Tuesday.

He replaced retired Inspector Steve Porter.

Scott began his policing career with the Norfolk Detachment 26 years ago, and has held numerous positions since then. He has been with the street crimes unit, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and a sergeant with Oxford an Brant detachments.

He spent time as interim detective staff sergeant in OPP West Region, overseeing criminal operations at four detachments as well as supervising the Regional Intelligence Unit. His last assignment was as acting inspector of staffing and development at OPP West Region Headquarters.

“I am very confident that the citizens of Perth County and the members of the Perth County OPP Detachment will be well served by their new detachment commander who brings with him an extensive and varied background in policing," says Chief Superintendent John Cain.
