Van and Meat Stolen From Perth East Butcher Shop

A rural butcher shop northeast of Stratford was hit by thieves.

Perth County OPP have determined that the shop at Walnut Hill Farms on Road 104 near Wellesley was broken into around midnight Sunday.

The keys to a GMC Savana cargo van were removed, and boxes of cured meats were taken from the shop and loaded into the van.   The empty van was found Monday, about 10 kilometers away at the Foxwood Golf and Country Club.

The value of the stolen meat is estimated at $5,000, and included boxes of beef roasts, country hams, Texas burgers, wild boar sausage, and pepperettes.

The OPP are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or vehicles on the Walnut Hill Farm property in Perth East between 11 and midnight Sunday to contact them.
