Wellington County OPP Report New Twist In Canada Revenue Agency Scam

Wellington County OPP are warning of a new twist in the popular Canada Revenue Scam.

Tax time has fraudsters busy trying to scam consumers and businesses.

The latest variation involves a phone call from someone claiming to be from the CRA who says there is a refund pending, but they need some personal information first. Or, the victim is told an audit shows they owe back taxes and must pay immediately to avoid a fine, deportation or arrest.

Always verify any claims and don't take immediate action. The CRA already has your personal information and doesn't need to get it from you.
