Huron County Gets Cool Response From Finance Staff

The Warden of Huron County says his meeting with finance ministry staff at this week's Good Road Conference in Toronto was disappointing.

Paul Gowing explains county staff spend a lot of time putting together the presentation on the negative impact that cuts to the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund were having on rural Ontario.

But he says ministry staff were very defensive, and refused to accept the county figures and model.

County staff and the consultant hired to help with the presentation will be in touch with Finance Ministry staff to set up further meetings.

Gowing is hoping that meeting with the finance minister will be held at the AMO Conference in August.
