Kincardine Refugee Sponsors Still Waiting

The Kincardine Refugee Committee is ready and waiting.

An update from the committee says funding is available to sponsor two families for a year.

They have volunteer drivers ready, furniture collected and a housing committee ready with two homes.

However, the blended visa program application for Kincardine's private sponsorship program, is not part of the 25,000 refugees being sponsored federally.

And currently there is no way for government sponsored refugees to be matched with private sponsors.

The group reports the Liberal Government has yet to release its 2016 plan regarding accepting additional Syrian refugees above the 25,000. That announcement is expected within the next couple of weeks.
