Southgate Delays Company's Lease Request Until Public Meeting

Southgate council wants to know more about a recycling company that creates electricity from burning waste wood.

Petawawa Renewable Power wants to lease land in the Dundalk Eco Industrial Park for its operation.

Southgate Councillor Christine Gordon says most people in Dundalk do not want another waste company in town, and she questioned the company’s commitment to the community considering it just wants to lease, not buy the land.

Councillor John Woodbury says council needs to hear more from the company and the public at an open house meeting before deciding on the lease. Southgate council agreed.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
