Children Light Up The Stage In Teeswater Musical

The curtain will rise again tonight at the Teeswater Town Hall as youngsters of all ages take to the stage in a local production of "Seussical The Musical Jr." based around popular Dr. Seuss children's characters including the Cat in the Hat.

The show is produced by Studio 410, a performing arts centre in Teeswater, owned and operated by sisters Devan and Paige Ballagh.

For the two sisters, who grew up performing together from a very young age, it's a dream come true.

"It's pretty [indescribable], it's just so much happiness, and 21 weeks into lifting the show and putting up the show and so when that moment finally comes and there's an audience sitting here and the kids are all prepared and they're up on stage in costume it's incredible, there's a lot of mixed emotions," says Devan.

Both Devan and Paige grew up in the area, performing and singing their hearts out and now they've channelled that creative outlet to teach youngsters of all ages the art of performance.

Something Paige Ballagh says is quite moving, to say the least.

"Since we were kids playing with each other, it's kind of been a lifetime process. Everything we've been doing has been growing to where we can finally put on a musical; to have a dream come true with your sister as your partner in a town hall that you grew up performing in and you're surrounded by your family and friends helping, every little part of our heart was full," says Paige.

And there's an extra special link to the Teeswater Town Hall for the sisters; it's a place their late grandfather spent a lot of time in looking after and so for them, this show is extra special.

"Seussical The Musical Jr." continues all weekend at the Teeswater Town Hall with shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
